1. Establish Primary Settings
Included with the iWebGate Portal Server is a USB memory device which has a specific iWebGate Setup Application loaded onto it. Firstly, the USB memory device is inserted into a USB port on your Windows’ computer where a configuration utility runs.
The configuration file has a number of fields that need to be completed which include:
- Global Administrators Password;
- iWebGate Portal Server Network IP Address;
- Fully Qualified Host Name;
- Primary Name Server Address;
- Default Network Gateway Address;
- Network Address.
Once completed, the details are saved. Safely remove the USB device from your computer.
2. Connect Components
An Ethernet cable needs to be inserted into the back of the iWebGate Portal Server and the other end into a LAN port on your Internet Router with a built in switch/hub or into one of the ports on your Network Switch which in turn provides access to an Internet Router. It is imperative that the iWebGate Portal Server has access to the Internet in order to complete the final setup and at least maintain license and system updates and it is highly recommended to implement behind a suitable firewall.
Additionally, the AC/DC power adapter that comes pre–packed also needs to be connected to the power receptor found on the back panel of the iWebGate Portal Server and to a wall outlet or power strip and then powered on.
3. Boot the iWebGate Portal Server
The power switch found on the back panel of the iWebGate Portal Server needs to be turned on where you will notice the iWebGate badge at the front of the hardware unit illuminate.
Once the iWebGate Portal Server has booted to its’ operational state, the USB memory device needs to be inserted into the USB port found on the back panel of the iWebGate Portal Server. The portal server will correctly identify the USB drive being plugged in and load the configuration data stored on it. The iWebGate Portal Server will apply an audible warning (3 beeps) indicating that the configurations have been installed correctly and that the unit is now operational with all services running.
Once established, the portal core can be administered to govern portal settings, application permission rights, create portal sites (e.g. business units) and their affiliated site administrators, users, members etc.
